Mental Health

Synopsis:

Despite your best intentions and knowledge of evidence-based best practices, some of your clients seem to be uninterested in therapy. There is a barrier while building rapport, and you hope for better therapeutic alliance with your clients. If you have ever experienced difficulty in connecting with any of your clients, join us to have a discussion about techniques in motivational interviewing to aid your interaction with clients who may be difficult to engage or are currently unmotivated for therapy.

Speaker’s Profile:

Mingxiu joined the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) in 2013 as an OT for the then Changi Women’s Prison (CWP) Psychiatric Housing Unit (PHU), which is an extension of the collaborative project that started in April 2011 between Singapore Prisons Service and Institute of Mental Health for offenders with mental health needs. More recently, Mingxiu is part of the OT team involved in the hospital-led empanelment work, which seeks to support patients/clients through from hospital to the community in their recovery journeys.
