What Types of Membership are Available?

Ordinary Membership

Only persons (within Singapore) possessing a qualification in Occupational Therapy recognised by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists or by the Executive Council of the Association shall be eligible for this class of Membership. This category of members will have voting rights.
Documents for Verification:
Locally Employed OTs: AHPC Number
Non-AHPC Registered OT Graduates: WFOT-accredited degree AND Proof of Residence in Singapore

Student Membership

This class of membership is open only to the following person(s):
1) Students (Singapore Citizens/PR or Foreigners) pursuing a Singapore-based WFOT-accredited entry-level programme, OR
2) Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents pursuing an overseas WFOT-accredited entry-level programme
Documents for Verification:
Local SIT OT Students: Student List through SAOTSC
Overseas OT Students:
1) Letter of Admission with Student ID, 2) Proof of Singapore Citizenship, 3) Information on Course Length

Associate Membership

Only persons currently residing in a foreign country, possessing a qualification in Occupational Therapy recognised by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists and by the Executive Council of the Association shall be eligible for this class of membership. These members have no voting rights.

SAOT Membership Awards

To encourage budding OTs’ professional development and endeavours at the start of their OT career, SAOT provides Membership Awards to students and OTs who have demonstrated exemplary scholarly achievements. Novice OTs are encouraged to participate in the following platforms to be eligible to our SAOT 1-Year Membership Awards:

National Occupational Therapy Conference: Best Student Paper

All 1-Year Membership Awards cannot be transferred and must be claimed within 1 Year from Date of Award.

Honorary Membership (Lifetime Award):

This class of membership is by invitation and award-only, based on the standing criteria of the SAOT Council for persons who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the OT profession.
