Managing stress and burnout in healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic

Synopsis:
Amidst the COVID-19, were there times that you felt overwhelmed and stressed with the changes, uncertainty and workload? These responses are normal and you are not alone in this! As we go about helping others in our daily work, it is also important to care of our mental wellbeing especially in this challenging times. Through this session we hope to support you by sharing strategies on maintaining mental wellbeing, building resilience and cognitive efficacy.

It will be an interactive session which covers mindfulness techniques of the following:
• Mindfulness of the present moment and sound
• Breathing space
• Mindful stretching
• Using mindfulness to manage thoughts, feelings and sensations

Speaker’s profile:
Dr Tan Bhing Leet is an Associate Professor and Programme Director of the Singapore Institute of Technology Occupational Therapy course. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Head of the Occupational Therapy Department at the Institute of Mental Health for 11 years. She graduated from the University of Queensland with a PhD in Psychiatry, and also possesses a Masters in Mental Health from Kings College London and BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy from University of Exeter, UK.

Dr Tan has attained professional trainer certifications in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Stress Management and Neuropsychological and Educational Approach to Remediation (NEAR). She has also been invited as speaker for various conferences including Singapore Mental Health Conference, Singapore Health and Biomedical Congress, and Cognitive Remediation in Psychiatry Annual Conference.
